David Bohm was a world-renowned physicist and philosopher who, late in his career, dedicated himself to the development of a theory on Dialogue employing collective and creative thought as a suggested method by which to combat societal fracturing. His approach involved participants working together to understand the assumptions underlying their individual and collective beliefs. It is regularly employed in a series of situations including conflict resolution and penal contexts.
Facilitated by Hester Reeve, participants will be introduced to the unique possibilities that Bohmian Dialogue offers in terms of reconsidering our relationship to thought, creativity and its processes as well as having the opportunity to explore the process of ‘thinking together’ with no predefined purpose or agenda.
‘Dialogue is a way of observing, collectively, how hidden values and intentions can control our behaviour. It can be seen as an arena in which collective learning takes place and out of which a sense of increased harmony, fellowship and creativity can arise.’
‘I was interested in the meta-narrative; the dynamic of the group; and my own role in it. It was illuminating.’ Sue Ball
